It is called Moroseta and it is a unique hen in the world, famous for its soft and silky plumage like that of mammals.

Compared to the more common hens it is also much more affectionate, it is easy to tame and gets along very well with children. It is also an exceptional mother hen, capable of hatching several times during the year, even in winter.

The origins of this breed are not well known: the most probable hypothesis is that it comes from ancient China, since Marco Polo already spoke of it in his Million. The Italian explorer described her as black and with cat-like fur and laying very good eggs to eat.
Another special feature is that it has five toes and tufts of feathers on its beak and legs as well.

It arrived in Europe following the old Silk Road and immediately won the sympathy of local poultry farmers who also use it as a nurse for other poultry species, given its good nature in taking care of the offspring.
Its docile character then made it an excellent pet, the softest garden host there is.
